The 3 Rules of Effective Meetings That Do Not Suck Time Away

I just had a great meeting, which unfortunately are few and far between. Two many meetings are aimless, accomplish next to nothing, and just suck your time away from more productive tasks. And then there are professional meeting goers who like these types of meetings perhaps because it beats actually working. I have had weeks where I’ve been scheduled to sit in 40 hours worth of meeting where several of them were worthless and others really did not need my attendance or participation. Here are 3 rules for an effective meeting, followed by a few additional thoughts that may help.

1) A meeting must have an agenda. What is the meeting about? How long will you be discussing these topics? The agenda can also specify issues or topics that will not be covered.
